How can I book an intake session?
Book the first session by contacting us by email. Then, we will coordinate and schedule our first intake session. During our intake session, we will discuss your symptoms and decide if we're the right fit for you. It is very important that you find the right therapist that "clicks" with you. We hope we're the right person for you. If we're not, we'll refer you to some of our trusted colleagues who have more experience in your area of need.
Why do some people opt out of using their insurance?
It is important to be aware that when we use health insurance for therapy services, a qualifying mental health diagnosis needs to be reported to the insurance company for them to cover the therapy sessions. This confidential information becomes part of the client's permanent medical record. Also, some insurance companies limit the number of sessions and type of services covered. That's why some people opt out of using their insurance benefits.
What's the difference between psychotherapy, counseling, therapy, and coaching?
The answer is a Mental Health License. In the state of Texas, one must have a Master's degree from an accredited University, pass the National Counselor Examination and complete at least 3,000 supervised hours in order to be licensed to practice psychotherapy or counseling.
Coaching is a certification without a Licensing Board.
Do you provide letters for emotional support animals?
We don't provide letters for emotional support animals because it's out of our scope of practice. While we understand the benefits that emotional support animals can provide, it's important for clients to work with a professional who specializes in animal-assisted therapy or who can provide appropriate documentation for emotional support animals.
What are your business hours?
We see clients Monday through Thursday between 9 AM and 5 PM. Fridays are our administrative day where we have consultation, training, and workshops.
Do you make custody recommendations?
We don't make custody recommendations because these require a comprehensive home study conducted by a trained therapist or professional with expertise in that specific area. This process ensures that all aspects of the child's well-being and the family's situation are thoroughly evaluated, which is crucial for making informed custody decisions.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy requires clients to notify us at least 48 hours in advance if they need to cancel their appointment. Failure to do so will result in a $100 cancellation fee, which is not covered by insurance. This policy helps ensure that our therapists' time is respected and allows us to offer the appointment to another client in need.
How long that it usually takes to see results from therapy?
The timeline for therapy varies greatly on the client and their specific goals. Some clients may start to see significant improvement in a few sessions, as soon as 2 or 3 months. Others may take much longer, up to a year. Factors such as the complexity of the issues, trauma history, the client's motivation and commitment to therapy, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship can all impact the pace of progress in therapy.
Do you offer virtual or in person therapy sessions?
We offer telehealth or virtual therapy sessions to anyone located in the state of Texas. Additionally, we provide in-person sessions at our Georgetown office for those who prefer face-to-face therapy. This flexibility allows clients to choose the option that best suits their needs and comfort level.
